The Oklahoma Policy Institute, operated by David Blatt, has emerged as the state’s most credible outside source on budget information and analysis and has been praised by both conservative and progressives.

In a recent fundraising email, Blatt notes:

. . . our work is having an impact. As an example, prior to session we produced a series of blog posts followed by an issue brief, Learning from the Budget Crisis, that offered four sensible recommendations that could leave us better equipped to manage the full length of this fiscal crisis and respond better the next time the economy falters. Our recommendation for improved forecasting capacities was praised in the Oklahoman and led to legislation introduced in the current session. Our call for greater scrutiny of tax breaks as part of a balanced approach to managing the budget crisis has found echoes in the Governor's budget, several legislative proposals, and growing media attention to the cost of tax incentives.

What makes Blatt’s work so outstanding is its depth. Blatt’s research and writing skills are impeccable, and his arguments cut across political lines. Check out the OK Policy Blog. Check out the studies on the main site.

OK Policy, described as an organization that “is committed to advancing policies aimed at alleviating poverty, promoting fiscal responsibility, and expanding economic opportunity,” can always use our support. It adds the substance and intellectualism we need to move Oklahoma forward. Click here to donate.
